After you finish the site, can I go it alone?
Currently, we do not have an option for this. Sites these days (that have large amounts of code to make them dynamic) are much like computer software. Certain software, dealing with access to the internet (i.e. e-mail programs, web browsers, etc.), periodically have to be patched or updated to fix any potential security holes that may have been discovered by the manufacter... all before the hackers discover them. This same method applies to web sites that run on scripts and databases. The reason that we require some form of monthly maintienance is that we have seen former clients have their sites hacked because they had no idea how to update their sites or patch any holes that may have been discovered be the creators of our Contenet Management System.
We do, however, have some very reasonable monthly rates, considering that all site upgrades and complimentary hosting is included.
